Cold Plasma Technology: Layer by Layer to Radiance — in a Single Session


Valentina Monsalve, Licensed Esthetician, built the protocol around this specific skin condition and the client's goals, combining several technologies in a purposeful sequence:
One session — and this 34-year-old client's skin looked smoother, more radiant, and visibly more even in tone.
The client came in with combination skin that tends toward surface dehydration, mild diffuse erythema on the cheeks, visible pores in the T-zone with sebaceous filaments, uneven texture, and punctate hyperpigmentation against a background of accumulated photoaging. There were no active acne lesions.

Reduced water in the upper layers of the stratum corneum makes it look less plump and dampens light reflection — hence the dull appearance.

On Fitzpatrick III–IV, accumulated sun exposure shows up as uneven tone and punctate lentigines.

Together they scatter light further, so the surface reflects it unevenly.

When the stratum corneum is low on water, light scatters unevenly, so texture and dullness read more strongly.

Step 3. AHA/BHA prep solution

Step 12. Finish: mask removed, serum, moisturizer, SPF
What was done: After removing the mask — application of serum, moisturizer, and SPF.
Why: To lock in the result and protect the skin after the exfoliating and active steps.
What happens in the skin: The finishing products form a supportive layer over the stratum corneum, help retain moisture and preserve a smoother-looking surface, and SPF adds UV protection — essential after active work.
Step 5. Enzyme finish: NuPeel Natural Enzyme
What was done: Immediately after dermaplaning, NuPeel Natural Enzyme is applied.
Why: To gently refine the exfoliation and achieve a clean surface before extractions.
What happens in the skin: Proteolytic enzymes break the protein bonds between the already-loosened corneocytes (a gommage effect); once the residue is removed, the skin has a smoother, more even, dry surface.


Step 4. Dermaplaning with a #10R blade
What was done: Dermaplaning with a #10R blade using light, short strokes; a light argan oil is applied first to help the blade glide.
Why: To mechanically remove vellus hair and dry corneocytes, smoothing the microrelief.
What happens in the skin: Removing vellus hair and surface shed cells reduces micro-roughness of the stratum corneum — light reflects more evenly, and the surface looks smoother and ready for the next steps.



What was done: What was done: Application of DermaplanePro AHA/BHA
Skin Prep Solution. Why: To begin gentle surface exfoliation and prepare an even surface before dermaplaning.
What happens in the skin:
AHA — alpha hydroxy acids: help exfoliate the surface layers of the skin, improving the look of texture and radiance and softening the appearance of fine lines.
BHA — beta hydroxy acids: work within the pores and suit combination skin, helping support a clearer-looking complexion and reduce the appearance of blackheads.


What was done: A pass of cold plasma (Zemits EvoPlasm) over the cleansed skin before the active steps.
Why: To create an even, prepared starting surface and support more uniform contact with the actives that follow.
What happens in the skin: The cold plasma field forms above the skin's surface (no contact, ablation, or thermal effect), supports a temporary increase in the surface permeability of the stratum corneum, and a more even, cleaner-looking surface ahead of the actives to come.
What was done: A double cleanse with the Barrier Protect Gel Cleanser – DermaplanePro.
Why: To remove the surface film — sebum, makeup residue, and SPF — and prepare the skin for the device steps.
What happens in the skin: Surfactants lift the lipid film and impurities from the stratum corneum; gentle lactic acid and antioxidants (C, E) prepare an even, comfortable surface.


Step 11. LED support: Zemits UltraGlow
What was done: The LED phase on the Zemits UltraGlow — red (640 nm), green (550 nm), and blue (430 nm) light over the applied mask.
Why: A comfortable finishing step aligned with the client's goal — even tone and radiance.
What happens in the skin: By photobiomodulation logic, light interacts with light-sensitive structures in the upper layers of the skin:
red (640 nm) supports a fresh, radiant look,
green (550 nm) supports a more even-looking tone,
blue (430 nm) works in the outer layers and supports a cleaner-looking surface.

Step 10. Peptide mask: Ageless Stem Cell & Peptide Face Mask
What was done: The Ageless Stem Cell & Peptide mask (DermaplanePro) is applied to the face and neck.
Why: A soothing, nurturing step after the active phases.
What happens in the skin: Peptides and plant-derived extracts support a smoother, more cared-for-looking surface and restore a feeling of comfort after the active steps.


Step 9. Peel
What was done: Application of the Happy Peel by DermaplanePro.
Why: To target tone, texture, and radiance.
What happens in the skin: Lactic and mandelic acids support a smoother, more even-looking surface; salicylic acid supports clearer-looking pores; azelaic and kojic acids support a more even tone; aloe and green tea add comfort and antioxidant support.


Step 8. Third Zemits EvoPlasm application
What was done: A final pass of cold plasma (Zemits EvoPlasm) immediately after extractions.
Why: To support a calm, comfortable look on the just-cleared surface before the peel.
What happens in the skin: The plasma field above the surface helps the skin look calmer and more comfortable after the manual work and creates a clean surface for the next phase.


Step 7. Extractions
What was done: Controlled extractions as needed.
Why: To mechanically clear the pore openings in the T-zone.
What happens in the skin: The contents of clogged pores are removed; measured pressure limits surface trauma.
Step 6. Second Zemits EvoPlasm application
What was done: A pass of cold plasma (Zemits EvoPlasm) over the freshly exfoliated skin.
Why: To support a cleaner, calmer-looking surface right before the manual work.
What happens in the skin: The cold plasma field above the surface helps support a cleaner-looking surface and supports a more even, calmer-looking complexion before extractions.
