Pre-Event Glow: How a HydroDiamond Facial Refreshed Dull-Looking Skin in One Session
The client came in with dull-looking skin and a specific request: a fast refresh before an event. Yuliya Koval, Licensed Esthetician, built the protocol around her skin condition and her goals.
One session — and this client's skin looked smoother, fresher, and visibly more radiant.
Meet Yuliya Koval,
Licensed Esthetician
This protocol was performed by Yuliya Koval — a Licensed Esthetician and founder of Skin Story Studio on the Upper East Side in New York. Her work blends a holistic approach with high-tech treatments across laser and facial protocols. Yuliya is also a Zemits brand ambassador, content creator, and esthetician coach.

When dry corneocytes accumulate on the surface of the stratum corneum, the microrelief becomes less even. As a result, the skin can look rougher, duller, and less radiant.

A dull appearance is often connected to several surface-level factors that influence texture, how hydrated the skin looks, and the way it reflects light.
Client: female, 28
Main concern: dull-looking skin and a quick refresh before an event
Key protocol focus: surface cleansing and exfoliation, support for a hydrated-looking, radiant finish
Number of sessions: 1
Uneven Light Reflection
A smoother surface reflects light more evenly, while micro-irregularities change how that light scatters. This is why surface texture has a direct impact on how radiant the skin looks.

Dehydrated-Looking Surface
Insufficient water content in the stratum corneum can make the surface look less smooth and visually less plump. Skin like this often looks less fresh, even without noticeable dryness or flaking.

Skin Concerns & Treatment Goals
What Can Make Skin Look Dull?
Step 3. HydroDiamond® Treatment
Step 2. Glycolic Cleanser
Protocol Logic:
How Each Step Built
the Result
Yuliya built the protocol in the following sequence:
Step 1. Oil Cleansing
What was done: Application of the GlyMed Plus Professional Pumpkin Exfoliator.
Why: To add an enzymatic step for more even work across the surface texture.
What happened in the skin: The enzyme exfoliant complemented the surface refinement stage, supporting a smoother, more even-looking skin texture.
Step 4. Enzyme Exfoliant
What was done: A HydroDiamond® treatment with the DualDiamond tip on the Zemits DermeLuxx PRO, paired with the Serum with Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C (Zemits GlycoVelvet PRO).
Why: To reduce surface unevenness and support a smoother microrelief — one of the key factors behind a more radiant-looking complexion.
What happened in the skin: The DualDiamond tip delivers controlled mechanical exfoliation of the stratum corneum through its diamond coating, helping remove excess corneocytes and make the microrelief more even. At the same time, vacuum supports the cleansing action, drawing away the used solution and the particles that have been lifted.
The GlycoVelvet PRO formula works on the surface in parallel:
  • Glycolic acid — supports surface renewal.
  • Sodium PCA — helps maintain surface hydration.
  • Vitamin C — antioxidant support and a fresher-looking tone.
What was done: A second cleansing step — the GlyMed Plus Glycolic Facial Cleanser.
Why: To prepare the surface ahead of the device-based step.
What happened in the skin: The formula contains 10% glycolic acid, which supports surface-level shedding of corneocytes and helps prepare the stratum corneum for the next stages of the protocol.

What was done: Cleansing with the Epicutis Oil Cleanser.
Why: To remove makeup, SPF, and excess sebum before the steps that follow.
What happened in the skin: An oil cleanser helps dissolve sebum, SPF, and makeup. Once water is added, the emulsifiers in the formula allow the product to rinse away evenly from the surface of the skin.

Step 6. Lipid Serum
What was done: Application of the Epicutis Lipid Serum.
Why: To close out the active steps with a comfortable finishing step.
What happened in the skin: The formula helped support surface hydration and comfort, leaving the skin smoother and softer.

Step 5. Oxygen Infusion
What was done: Infusion of the Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
(Zemits RevitaOx PRO) through the Oxygen Serum Sprayer modality on the Zemits DermeLuxx PRO.
Why: To complete the active portion of the protocol with a hydrating, comfort-focused step.
What happened in the skin: Pressurized oxygen flow atomizes the serum into a fine mist and distributes it in an even layer across the surface of the skin. On the prepared stratum corneum, the Zemits RevitaOx PRO formula makes better contact with the surface:
  • Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water at the surface.
  • Grape seed extract — antioxidant support for a fresh appearance.
  • Argan oil softens the surface and supports barrier comfort after the active steps.
Step 7. SPF
What was done: Face Reality 5% Mandelic Serum was applied.
Why: To support the work on texture and congested-looking pores as part of the finishing care.
What happened: The formula supported a smoother-looking texture and a cleaner look to the pores.
Visible Result After One Session
Protocol Synergy
Immediately after the treatment, the skin looked:
  • smoother in appearance
  • fresher
  • more hydrated-looking
  • with a more even, polished-looking finish
When the goal is a fast refresh for dull-looking skin, the result is built in stages: surface refinement with HydroDiamond first, then a hydration-focused finish with the oxygen infusion.
This is the logic that lets the technologies complement one another to reach the intended result.
